Growth of a pitcher

Tropical pitcher plants can grow as climbers, as we see here in the conservatory. They can also grow as a low shrub, or as an epiphyte on other plants in the forest canopy. The pitchers that grow at lower places are usually larger than the ones hanging higher up. The largest pitcher can be as big as a basketball! This exhibit shows in detail the growth of a pitcher over time.
